Model Locomotive

birch engine
December 01, 2009 —May 31, 2010

This locomotive and accompanying tender was made at a scale of 1 1/2" to the foot by apprentices at the Erie yards in Pennsylvania.  It was made for Stephen Birch, Jr. in 1918  and had an operating steam boiler.  It is said that Stephen Birch, Jr., operated the locomotive on the property of his father Stephen Birch, Sr. on the Ramapo Valley Road, which later became owned by Ramapo College.
